Potterton Repair and Care

I have a problem with the expansion vessell and diverter valve in my boiler. It is a Potterton Powermax 85CP. The insurance company (Esure) and plumber (Plumbcare) are very difficult. First they asked me to stabalise the Fleu, which took two weeks. Now they want to put floor boards in the roofspace, which will take another few weeks (both at my cost i.e. £300 for stablise and £150 for floorboards.

I have now approached Potterton who will provide a repair and care for service for £29.99 PCM. This seems to good to be true. For just £359.88 (12*29.99) they say they will bring my boiler back to working order and then provide 12 months insurance. Is this too good to be true? Is there anything I should be wary of here? The insurance company have agreed to pay the 359.88! Before proceeding I want to make sure I have considered everything.

It's true. Relative used this service - a third of the price quoted by local boiler repair shop.

Fleu? Floor? Flu? So access to the boiler is an issue? Potterton may refuse to do the work if access is unsafe.
  • It is true.
Baxi Potterton and D&G provide fantastic cover.
Wonderful boiler. Keep it forever. Flow rate up to 25l/min. Two non-electric showers can be used at the same time.
No other Boilers are close on flow rate, except for the Worcester Bosch 550Cdi Combi (no heat store). Fitted cost at least £3500.
But remember Potterton provided this solution for a high DHW flow rate at least]t 20 years ago.
Many so called H&V engineers criticise the Potterton Powermax Boilers. They are just stupid fitters, not H&V engineers. Ignore what they tell you!
