Hello,

I'm getting married in June and my partner and I have done our best to save as much as we can, however some will need to go on a credit card. The credit card is solely to pay for wedding and will not be used other than our wedding.

We have no other credit cards and the only finance we have is our car. I have a pretty good credit score and so does my partner so I'm not worried about being rejected.

Can anyone recommend any decent deals or credit cards at the moment? Or let me know of any reliable comparison websites?

We get married in June and we estimate the card balance to be no more than £3,000 with the expectation to clear within a 18 months.

Any advice is welcomed.

Thanks
Fiona

Bewar in mind that not everywhere may accept a card payment.

The main issue is your eligibility, so start with that.

  • Thank you. We intend to use this for our honeymoon payment more than anything as you can pay balance by card.

I think I want reassurance that 0% for 24 months actually means 0% for 24 months?
  • You won't know until you apply what promo you qualify for - the same goes for the credit limit

some guarantee to give the full length of deal or not give a card at all, others will give a shorter deal to some. It will depend on how well you match their criteria

Remember that a purchasing card may only give you 0% for a fixed period so if you order early you might run out of time to do all the purchases (assuming they all take it). An alternative would be if you have a card already, to pay on that and look for a balance transfer card to move the debt over. Another alternative is a money transfer card to move the cash into your bank and pay that off over time

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

A jack of all trades card is the Nationwide Select Credit Card. No fee, 0% on purchase and balance transfers for 12 months, no fee for balance transfers for 3 months, commision free purchases abroad.

You need a Nationwide current account, but you can get 5% interest on your current account cash for a year, each, maybe have a joint one too, and get £100 for friend referrals (assuming you are friends with your fiance ;)), and save £250 per month each in a 5% regular saver.

Nationwide ranked 3rd for overall service in a recent poll.

So the goodies dry up after a year, but it's been good for me to cover my cash flow for my house improvements.

I don't work for Nationwide, I'm just a happy customer

    This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."
