Do you really want to live there ? Obviously a peasant development if one can't park ones Range Rover, how will the kids be able to get to school
I don't think the developers have really thought this one through.

If it's not sign written, I reckon you'd get away with it. As mentioned, they're usually included to stop people parking sign written vans, caravans, boats on trailers etc. everywhere during construction.
Once the develops is gone they don't usually give two hoots. Certainly not around here anyway. Sign written vans are ignored, satellite dishes visible from the front of the property are overlooked, although caravans and boats still get grassed up. :rotfl:0 -
Also to add, pickups are substitutes for a lot of people's everyday car. Strictly speaking you can argue they are an SUV rather than a commercial vehicle. Hence the same speed restrictions as cars on national speed limit roads.
P.S. I've got a warrior, it's sign written. Somewhere in my lease it says I'm not allowed it. I use it to take the misses and kids out all time0 -

As in it's legally both a car and a commercial...0 -

I think it depends a bit on the development and the people on it.
Our estate (owned by residents now) is pretty easy going but folks can be pretty snippy about covenants. Funnily enough "commercial vehicles" is one that does get people going.0 -

Thanks all for input. The development is all built they are just selling the final few plots. My main concern for wanting it amended/excepted would be if the person who I'm allocated next too has an issue with the truck being there, they could take action - lets face it the spaces in these places arent big and while the truck isn't any wider than a wide "car" (it still fits just within the lines) it looks and feels a bit bigger. The person next to me being between mine and a brick wall. Someone suddenly having that parked next to them and knowing theres no commercial vehicles aloud might decide to take action... Management company who control these areas also based on site.
Could be overthinking here but worth getting a straight answer too before proceeding with a purchase.0 -
That's a pretty big car- does it actually fit in the space or does it overhang by quite a bit?
These clauses are in part to protect the look of the estate-but also to protect the neighbouring spaces (eg. I couldn't get my car in my space if there was a motorhome in the next space along)
If you can demonstrate that your vehicle fits comfortably within the parking space I think you'd be in luck.0 -

Yes that what im worried about. it fits within the lines but it doesn't leave a whole lot of room as expected. I raised it with the sales people at the start and i was told if it fitted within the lines it was fine - but having that in writing is another thing...
Obviously i dont want to inconvenience anyone im parked next too! but its probably not much difference width wise than a large range rover or something - however having a covenant against these type gives someone a reason to be able to request it not be parked there.0 -
Don't assume that your pick-up is classed as a commercial vehicle. That all depends on how it was first registered (and whether or not VAT was paid).
If it turns out it can be registered as a private vehicle then you also get to legally go 10mph faster on certain roads0
