Spark Energy Final Bill

Hello All,

Just looking for some quick advice on what I should do. We left Spark Energy this year to move to a cheaper supplier, they said our final bill will be with us within 35 days. I checked the exact date 35 days would be and they said 14/02 (yesterday).

Unsurprisingly there was no final bill. When I called they said they had the readings from my new supplier and will generate it and it'll be ready in the morning. I've checked this morning, no final bill. I've gone onto live chat and they've advised because of the OVO takeover that happened and because I was with them before this, they cannot process the bill and it has to go via their billing team.

They're unable to give me any more estimate on a timeframe and are being very reluctant to give any information at all now. This is despite the fact they previously assured me 35 days. I've never once got any statement from them even though I chased this so many times and they blamed me for not giving readings, despite the fact I did and had a smart meter with them that THEY installed.

I'm worried they owe me money and are therefore trying to hold onto it or worst case, I owe them money but have no idea how much or how long I will have to pay it.

any advice is welcome, I am fed up of waiting now.

  • Whatever they may say on the phone to get rid of you I have found from past experience that it can be up 8 weeks before getting a final bill.
    Chill for a couple of more weeks , you won't get anywhere by pressurising them.

    Sorry to hear your final bill isn't ready yet.

    To be honest I'm a bit confused about some of the information you've been given.

    If you were a customer of Spark Energy Supply Limited, we would produce a separate final bill up to 28/11/18 which would be managed by KPMG. They are Spark Energy Supply Ltd's administrators.

    Any balance from 29/11/18 onwards is paid to Spark Energy as normal, as Spark Energy are now part of the OVO Energy family.

    Going by the dates, your final bill covers up to around 10th January, so you might potentially have two final bills. One that KPMG will deal with and one for any usage after we became part of the OVO Energy family.
