                    Hi,
I defaulted on an overdraft with HSBC, at some point the debt was sold to Shoosmiths.
I avoided acknowledging the debt for a while (don’t know how long exactly), but about 2 years ago they sent me a LBA, so I decided to contact them & arrange a repayment plan (£10 / month), which I have been paying ever since.
What I don’t understand is that the debt I’m repaying to Shoosmiths doesn’t appear on my credit file, why could this be?

If the original entry from HSBC exists and shows as defaulted, then shootsmiths will use this. You shouldn't see two entries for 1 debt0

There is no entry under HSBC either0

            Hi,
You say that neither HSBC or Shoosmiths are reporting the account on your credit file. Have you checked that across all three CRA files?I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

How old is the debt?Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0

It could be that the overdraft was terminated over 6 years ago.
It could be an address thing - that you are not searching against the address the creditors are using
But sometimes creditors just don't report and there seems no reason.
Reading the mind of the previous poster, was there ever a period of six years when you did not acknowledge the debt by payment or in writing? It might be statute barred.0

I have checked my credit report on Noddle & ClearScore & can not find any entry under Shoosmiths or HSBC (or any debt for the same amount Shoosmiths stated I owed in the LBA they sent me 2 years ago).0

            I don’t think there was a period of 6 years where I didn’t acknowledge the debt0

            I don’t know how Old the debt is, somewhere between 5 - 7 years I guess0

Is the fact that the debt does not appear of my credit file likely to indicate that it is statute barred?0
