Your gas and electricity seem a bit steep at £173 a month. The OR might not query it but it might be a way for you to get back some spending money after your interview. Have you tried the MSE energy club? Our joint bill with Bulb is £80 for our 2 bed bungalow and we are retired night owls so use the heat and light until late.

We also had £450 for food and toiletries for the 2 of us and that wasn't questioned so I'm pretty sure you could claim more for 5 of you without any problem.

    Is CB in your name?

Oven in wife's name so they can't compel you to return it (it's her bill, nothing to do with or) unless it's a big fancy v expensive thing I guess they could cap your contribution to it as a household item, otherwise prob safe. (Why doesn't your landlord provide an oven??)

Laptop allows you to work, should be fine but definitely push to keep this if it's questioned. Assuming its reasonable cost obvs. (ie sub to design software if your a designer ok: sub to 7 online games for goofing off, not ok )

don't put any contract type bills down if you don't have them but no reason you wouldn't have a Giffgaff payg for emergencies.

100 food, 7.50 kids & Netflix should all be ok, 100 savings? Might be a bit much but no harm asking if everywhere else is tight.

Maybe put a small holiday fund, even a week in a caravan is a change of scene & likely be acceptable, you could split your savings fund with this possibly.

Don't forget school uniform! Legitimately expensive so count for it.

The CB is solely in my partner's name not mine, does this change things?

A cooker was provided with the house, apparently it was brand new. I wouldn't even cook on it for the homeless, so the Mrs decided to rent one.

I'm an Draughtsman so require a reasonably powered machine to run AutoCAD 3D would cost me about £800 to buy renting seemed the cheaper option whiel i try to save for one.

Thanks for all the replies again guys. The Gas and Electric do seem high but were on a pre-paid meter thing and top up religiously £20 on each, each week. Even during the summer when we have no heating on, and use far less gas this way come winter we have plenty of credit and don't have to worry about going cold.

I'm a couple of weeks off yet from filing for BR but i think i will be ok now and i'm happier than i was yesterday with the figures.
