Ebay Argos collection question

Hi. Hope someone can help.

I sold an item and the buyer selected to collect their item from Argos (even though I had opted out). I didn’t mind it too much so sent it off. It was posted on 30th January and store received it on 1st February. Today I get a message from the buyer to say she had not received it. I replied back saying she had selected Argos so she should have collected it from there and gave her the tracking number to show delivery. I’m pretty sure buyer receives a message when it’s okay to collect?

My question is, if the buyer opens a INR case, because she didn’t collect, would it be in her favour? Also is there a way of finding out if she collected or not as I have had several scammers before.

If you opted out then how did the buyer get to use the Argos click and drop service? I would recheck your listings.

Assuming this went with the correct code etc then when Argos received it they should have scanned it and generated a code for buyer to collect- the easiest way to deal with this is to get the Argos telephone number and give them a call.

If buyer doesn't collect then item is sent back to you fully tracked and buyer gets a full refund.

Non collection by buyers is the reason I opted out of Argos c and c on my business account.

That’s why I find it odd. I’m definitely opted out. I didn’t mind it too much so I didn’t query it.

What happens if item doesn’t reach me, e.g. lost in the post? Does buyer still get the full refund?

I’ll contact that Argos store to find out more.

The tracking for Argos returns is usually very good, the buyer only gets a refund once tracking shows it is back with you. I have no idea what happens if item gets lost en route as it appears from the t and cs that both you and the buyer are protected.

  • Is it definitely an Argos delivery with a code number in the address? Had one customer who works at Argos buy something from me with his work address?

That is a very interesting question. I unless eBay take the loss they would need to favour either the buyer or seller in the case of a dispute. It would cost eBay a fortune to pay out for all the items that were 'lost in the post'.

It is not unusual for ebay to pay out both sides - paypal recently paid me out and a buyer for a SNAD so neither of us lost anything.
