MONEY MORAL DILEMMA: Should Victoria be there for Geri and share her bonus?

No way. She can recommend her own friends. My husband worked for a company that did this, it was how he got a job there and he also made money this way. The downside was that you had to be careful as to whom you gave recommendations for as it was your job on the line if they messed up.:rotfl:0

Definitely not.
I had a similar situation. I put my reputation on the line by recommending a friend, i.e. if the friend turns out bad, it'd reflect badly on me.
He jokingly said "you should split the cash with me"
My response?? Yea sure, as long as you split your first payday with me.
You getting the job for a friend is a favour to them.
You receiving the money is their favour to you.
Everyone is happy.0 -
Jamborino has this one spot on; Victoria should respond to Geri by asking for a cut of her wages, if it's a question of sharing any cash either of them make from the deal..!!!
Me, I'd like to think that something good would come of it out of friendship, and if not, i'd have a good bit of banter ribbing my mate for not offering. Either way we'd still be mates, but both with extra cash in our pockets.0 -

I guess a nice pressie wouldn't go amiss. After all, Geri has a new job and as has been mentioned, she can refer someone she knows.
If Victoria split the money, 50/50, and Geri recommended someone and split the bonus 50/50 with them, she'd have £500 that she would not have had but for Victoria's recommendation...
A girlie treat or a nice meal to celebrate the new post should be sufficient.
Apart from the tax and delay in getting any bonus, if Victoria handed over £250 to Geri in good faith and then only received £350 after the deductions were made, she'd be pretty aggrieved that she'd handed the lion's share to Geri...
Never let money come between friends. If they are truly a friend, the money won't matter but a spa treat or something similar will be worth much more.

I once won £200 on a lottery scratch card (long time ago) and I gave £20 of it to the checkout girl. She initially refused it but I was so happy and it was a lot of cash for me. I made the excuse that she could spend it on a nice dinner for her and her son on their upcoming holiday and maybe some colouring books and pencils for him. She was over the Moon and thanked me for my generosity. Not in debt

she should keep the money - her mate should be glad of the job - women eh? stands back and dons his flame suit...0

No she shouldn't split it. Victoria did put her neck on the line by recomending Geri for the job if Geri mucks up.
If I referred someone and they got he job and then they were good at it - ie didn't make me look silly for recomending them I'd take them out for a meal after their first month. But I wouldn't give them part of the cash I earned by recomending them. And it is earned money, Victoria provided a service the company was willing to pay for, Geri now has the chance to do the same. If victoria should split the referall money then Geri should split her wages because without Victoria she wouldn't have a job!
Mind you I also wouldn't want to stay friends with someone who asked me to give them money like that when I'd already helped them get a job.DEBT: £500 credit card £800 Bank overdraft

If they did not agree upfront then Victoria is not liable to give her anything, I think it's so damn tricky, depends on whether she wants to stay friends. If it's a good friend then give her £200, if she doesn't care about keeping her as a pal then nothing.0

Victoria gained the bonus through her own initiative, if Geri wants some extra money then she should follow Victorias example and recomend someone herself. If Geri did recomend someone and become entitled to the £500 would Geri be prepared to split her money????0
