MONEY MORAL DILEMMA: Should Victoria be there for Geri and share her bonus?

Oh my god folks, I know we are money-saving, but do we need to be stingy?? I've been in this situation many times, both as the referee and referred and every time it's been 50/50. Sure, allow for tax but be fair, you're mates and without BOTH of you, NO-ONE would get ANYTHING!!!! Share and share alike... Think if you were Geri, unemployed and skint, unable to keep up with your mate Victoria and the rest cos you came off unemployment benefit and haven't been out for months.... then you'd think again.

Goodness there are some really selfish and stingy people on this site! Of course she should split it! It is the only decent thing to do.0

I agree with tallgirld and jamboriono.
Geri was out of work and now has a job.
Victoria should share the bonus with her friend
on condition that gery shares her firdt months pay with

I think Victoria has already been a very good friend in recommending geri for a job. I think that geri should try to recommend a friend her self and get her own £500 and then see how she feels if thet person then asks for a share. Will she be so willing to share? I think not.
Victoria should take the money and enjoy it as she has taken a huge risk with her employer because if it doesn't work out with Geri then that is a black mark on her character with her employer.0 -
I have been in this position and i can only say that if Geri is bullying Victoria into giving he some then she 'aint no friend'. Victoria could offer her a gesture, perhaps £50 but Geri should not be pressing for anything at all and should just be grateful for the job - but perhaps offer to help her friend spend the money!:rolleyes:0

Victoria should keep all the bonus otherwise where does it end....e.g. If Geri recommends a new person and gets herself a £500 bonus does than mean Victoria has a claim on that as she referred geri in the first place etc.
She did her mate a favour and got her a job - thats payment enoughSome People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0 -
Now that they're working together Victoria will probably be better off paying just to keep the peace.
In the first place there has to be a distinction between friendship and business. The bonus is effectively for selling a mate. Even a split would drive a wedge in the friendship. A good friend would offer the whole amount to Geri, but if Geri was a good freind she would decline the money.0 -
I think it is up to the invidual whether to share or not. How much trust is there between them. They could arrange to bring in more people and share the bonus. However if they are not long standing friends then no, Vikki should keep the £500 and tell her friend to look for someone to join the company and get her own money.0

They should have discussed it before hand.
Victoria could have pointed out at the time that she'd get £500 and Geri gets a job.
I think it's Victoria's fault for not discussing it in the first place, and has almost made it a bit underhand or secretive.
So Victoria should pay up to save the friendship if she thinks the friendship's worth it.0 -
No Chance, she practically got her the job so why should she half the money with her. If she hadnt asked for it i probably would have but not now. Does she want her to do the job for her as well. Geri wouldn't be expected to split half her wages. Baa Humbug ha ha0
