Viagogo

Good Evening,

Me and my girlfriend recently bought tickets for a concert in Hull. We later found out the were not able to go due to another event so we tried to sell the tickets. We first went to Viagogo. They were trying to get us to sell the tickets for between £150-£190 each. We didn’t want to go for this option as we only paid £30 for each ticket and we have been on the other end of overpriced tickets.

My girlfriend had however tried to enter the proof of purchase to the website but an error message came up. We also found out that we would have needed to go to the venue which was the whole reason we were selling the tickets as we couldn’t make it from Manchester.

Later my girlfriend received an email claiming that they still needed to have the proof of purchase. She didn’t reply and we sold the tickets back to ticket master for face value.

15 days later she received an email saying that the tickets have been sold for £100 (no idea where that price came from) and we needed to provide the proof of purchase of incur a cost.

We rang viagogo and they claim they have received the proof of purchase and the tickets were listed automatically without actually click on and ‘list ticket buttons’ etc. They told us that as we have no proof of the error message we must pay £88.

Surely they are not allowed to list the tickets automatically? Does anyone have any info on stuff like this happening?

Many thanks

Nat

You gave your details to touts. Not a wise move. See if you can persuade your bank not to release the money.

Indeed. It was our first time selling tickets. We’ve contacted the bank but this will probably not be the end of it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh?:embarasse:

Indeed so. Sadly this company appears to be no better than people who stand outside venues muttering they have tickets for sale. Unfortunately a nice website gives a veneer of respectability.
  • You need to get legal advise and refuse to pay them. Which? Can help with legal advice.

Whilst it's bumped, i'll add a constructive recommendation for a company called Twickets.

    Resale at face value only!

Write them officially an email, get records of all calls made, complaints and requests and emails.
Send them a letter before action.
Start small claims court, you´ll require a UK address, Viagogo trades in UK apparently under the name of VGL at 78 cannon street in London :) Good luck

Quite. The poster has posted twice in quick succession on Viagogo threads, they seem to have a personal vendetta.

Perhaps they should just post their own thread ....

No they don't. That's a ticket printing company who I've heard defend spurious claims against them rather robustly.
  • Not a vendetta, just one of the thousands people scammed by Viagogo :)
