Laptop back up

I have an external hard drive containing a back up of my laptop but I'm thinking I need a cloud based back up too for added security - can anyone suggest or recommend one? I'm wanting to back up my files and all my laptops software so in theory if I lost everything I could buy a new laptop, download everything from the cloud and have a new laptop with all my 'old' stuff on it.

I'm looking at Acronis but open to suggestions. Thanks (PS can't post link as I'm a new user)

Lots of suggestions coming up...If that's an image of the laptop (on external drive) I suggest you keep that updated and that's the image you restore from (assuming any new/replacement laptop would be same model!?); assuming Windows10, it's a doddle to reinstall and so I suggest you just backup docs, pics, music, videos to Cloud. Which service you use depends on how much data you have; do properties of C:\Users\your-user-name to get a rough idea (assuming all your stuff is under that folder). e.g. Google provides a default 15GB. Sorry, lots of assumptions...

    OK, I use Macrium Reflect.
There's a free edition for home use: https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

If not joking, any of Macrium, Acronis, or even Windows10 "Go to Backup and Restore(Windows 7)" provide imaging functionality.
  • Many thanks for the suggestions - I'll look into cloud based storage for files, photos, etc and a full image on an external hard drive.
