Don't switch too quickly

I got my renewal reminder from Eon on Saturday, and went straight to MSE to get the best alternate, easy.
Here's the bad news, by switching, from Eon to SSE quickly I'm in danger of paying the new, higher tariffs for three weeks more than I need to. My old contract ends on 26th March, but by switching early the new one may start on March 5th which mean I'll be paying higher rates for 3 weeks. I gave my contract renewal date as part of the process. I'm now faced with cancelling the switch and waiting a couple of weeks. Any thoughts?

The counterr 'argument' is that the SSE tariff might be withdrawn and the alternative tariff be even more expensive - or cheaper!


Since the gas/electricity industry was privatised there have been hundreds of posts from people with the same dilemma - if/when to jump ship and to fix or not!

So work it out. Most switches take around 3 weeks - including your 14 days cool off period. So apply around 3 weeks before your current tariff ends.

However, this may mean that the tariff that caught your eye may not be available when you come to do the switch.
