someone else using my old married name and address

On Saturday i found that i had 7 checks on my noddle account in searches in my very old married name to a company called Retail Money Market Limited T/A ratesetter.com since 01/04/17 and upto 18/01/19 and i have not lived at this address for 12 years and not had that married name for 11 years. I also noticed that my previous address and maiden name was also used just once in 2017 by the same company. it is only showing on noddle and nothing else.

I have contacted action fraud on Saturday evening and have a number. i also emailed Noddle and yesterday got back saying that because it was my old name its all ok and nothing to worry about. But i am very worried as this is happening alot and i have no idea who these people are and they affecting my credit score. I have never heard of this company that is checking my score twice a month for past few months. what else can i do to stop this. any help would be very much appreciated thank you

Contact the company and ask them. It's only cause for concern if they are credit applications, but that sounds unlikely.

If they are soft searches, they will have no impact. Ignore the score.

I have contacted the company and they think its giffgaff. but i have never used them and why would something come up from 12 years ago. i have never heard of something like this. i have not asked for credit for years before so very worried but noddle said that as in old name and associated with old partner nothing to worry about.

The firm in question isn't checking since only you can see it, they are checking your credit file.

Theres 2 other agencies, Experian (use mse credit club) and Equifax ( use Clearscore to check), you may as well check them as its good to check the files on a regular basis.

I have had this recently happen to me, it was just a single credit search in my maiden name at a previous address, also only on noddle and was Retail Money Market Limited T/A Ratesetter.com. I did exactly the same and raised it with Action Fraud. It was linked to someone who has been financially associated to me when you had this name. I had to disassociated from them to prevent any further checks in the future.

Suggest you check your financial associations on Noddle and raise a dispute if you no longer have any financial products open with them to prevent further checks happening.
