Big Winter Switch - Green Energy Network concerns

Through the Winter Switch promotion on MSE we've applied to move over to Green Energy Network. Having done some further research I've found that they have a lot of truly awful feedback.
Given that MSE champions value and customer service, and that GEN is being promoted in this switch, have commitments been made about improving this situation? I'm seriously considering bailing out in my cooling off period.
If you search on Google for Green Energy Network and click Google Reviews in the left (it's not a shareable link) you'll find some terrible feedback

  • Please don't take this the wrong way but MSE are a money making organisation who's sole task is to make money for the owners (moneysupermarket.com)

They will not research suppliers as to do so would open them to litigation when things go wrong.

So your guess is as good as anyone else's as to how good GEN are. If you don't feel comfortable then avoid. It is your money after all.
  • Not taken the wrong way at all, thanks for responding.

I totally understand that it's a business and, of course, have no problem at all with the company making money out of an association or promotion, but an association with, and promotion of, a brand that then goes on to provide a poor service (and according to many items of feedback, has overcharged customers) hugely devalues the offering and is one of the very things that MSE prides itself on.

Hence my question as to whether any commitments had been made to change this. Of course, I can decide to revert my decision based on my own research and this question was part of that research.

I am equally sceptical about comparison sites and the switching process but the following information is provided.

MSE Feedback: 69% Great, 13% Okay, 17% Poor (52 votes) "Green Network Energy was rated 69% 'great' in our latest poll and we've worked with it before without any significant issues. We've also arranged enhanced customer service for this deal, so basically if it doesn't sort any problem you have with the switch, we can get involved."

It remains your choice to weigh up the merits of different suppliers, but there is an attempt to consider the customer service aspect in the information given.
  • Thanks PeterGr, I hadn't found that quote, that's useful, it sounds like there's an effort to address things.

    Cheers
