County court claim against me from car crash

Hi all, first time posting so please be gentle!
Today I received a county court claim from a car accident I was at fault for back in August 2017, which came as a surprise as I thought it was all settled back then when my insurance (Hastings) paid me and the other driver out, they're wanting over 10 grand for a personal injury claim, loss of earnings etc.
I've spoke to Hastings but am still waiting to hear back from their litigation team, but I'm worried as I know with a county court claim you have 14 days to reply.
What I'm trying to find out is will the other drivers solicitor have sent both myself and Hastings the same sets of paperwork and will Hastings just sort everything out for me? Another issue is I don't believe I had the legal cover optional extra so if I have to pay legal costs, how much will those cost?
Thanks in advance for any advice, I'm really fretting over this.

Just pass all the details onto Hastings. It's standard for the paperwork to be sent to you first.

And you shouldn’t face any costs. That’s what insurance is for.

Legal cover is only for you claiming against a third party. In your case the insurer is defending/negotiating a claim against you, which they will have to pay and they will cover all those costs. You do not need to worry about the legal costs.
  • Just waiting to hear back from Hastings as their systems are down but the main issue I was worried about was the legal costs as I'd read online that if you don't take out the legal cover then I'd have to pay for the personal injury claim against me, getting a county court claim through the post demanding 10000 pound was a surprise to say the least!

Did you read the responses above at all?

They sue you, but your insurers at the time of the incident pay all the legal costs.
