Chrome contactless-honestly!

My understanding was from a call to Vanquish during 2018 is that my chrome card isn't Apple Pay compatible though it could be used by swiping a contactless terminal in retailers of my choice.
Tonight I thought I'de give it a try for small petrol purchase and a very low beep didn't accept the card as contactless and reverted to the contactless front screen symbol.
Inserting card and pin worked fine.
My question, any successful examples of Chrome card being used to make a contactless transaction.

Yes it does and this is a replacement which included contactless leaflets.

Cards can still be contactless and not support Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Have you made a purchase on the card before either PIN or contactless?

First time use or the card usually requires a chip and pin transaction to activate contactless on it

Presumably there's little point in Vanquis Bank offering Apple Pay (for which privilege it would likely have to pay a hefty kick-back to Apple) because those who can afford to pay Apple's inflated prices for iPhones aren't Vanquis Bank's target market:

Possible valid point- this was replacement for losses card last year.
Maybe tonight's pin transaction was 1st.
Yes CS advised last year the card doesn't work with Apple Pay.
Maybe Ill try another small fuel transaction next time.

A replacement card still needs an initial pin transaction before it can be used as a contactless.
