wonder if anyone can give me advice please. Normally i have a dd of £200 per month for the above bill with the company unicom but today I went to my bank and they have take £3300 from my account. I called them and they said they money is theirs as I owe them this for the years bills as The £200 was an estimate.

Where do I stand with this. I cant afford for them to be taking that from my account.

Any advice?

What kind of house do you live in if your energy bill is nearly 6k per year.

So first of all, are your bills based on the meter readings or an estimate.

Ensure that you are being billed on the correct meter details, one thing to check would be if you have a metric meter installed, but being billed on imperial rate, easiest way to do this is look at the meter read on the bill, and then check the meter. Imperial reads have 4 dials, metric reads have 5 dials. This is my first thought to your large bill.

to check the meter accuracy, turn off your gas appliances and see if the meter read continues to go round.

Please provide the meter read currently, and if you have access to your historical reads, give us the read that you are being billed from. Also tell us what tariff you are on.

Unicom seems to be a business energy supplier. These out of contract prices can be astronomical at the best of times so £200 a month isn't particularly unusual with those.

Why is the OP even with Unicom? Do you run a business from home? Live above a business maybe? How have you ended up with this company?

Kd1106 - please stick to one thread please.

Meterman and Neil - poster has a hairdressing business.
Hopefully he will come back with some detail.

I'm thinking he has taken his eye off the ball.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
