Plasterboard on ceilling question after fixing a leak.

Options
Hi folks,

Plumber had to knock out about a sq metre of plasterboard on kitchen ceiling to fix a leak from bathroom above, was only way to do it as leak was indeed in the floor area, so that part is sorted now.

1 He did mention a joiner would be around to fit new plasterboard, that is fine, but is a joiner all I need to get job done? as a helpful user in another thread suggested it is a job for a plasterer who would have to do reskimming as well.

Just want the one person to finish the job if possible to get it over with.

2 Another thing if there is a small space between new and old plasterboard is there some filling I can use, to level off the join?

Thanks a lot

You would probably need a plasterer - it's unlikely that once the new plasterboard is fitted that it would be level with the existing ceiling so you may well need to skim over the patch.

Not sure why a joiner was suggested at all tbh, unless he is sending one of his own tradesmen around - in which case they may also be able to plaster. Might be worth double checking with the plumber.
