Whistling Boiler

in In my home (includes DIY) MoneySaving
our Pacific boiler now whistles LOUDLY when cold

Ie loud enough to wake us up in the morning on the floor above, and is rather unpleasentto be in the same room when it happens

we have drained the boiler and its still doing it

our maintainance contract will not come out again as it "works" ie heats radiators and makes the water hot!

any ideas?:confused:

    It sounds like your boiler is kettling due to a build up of lime scale. It can be cured by using a product like Sentinel X200 e.g. here.

    It worked for me. Personally I would cancel the so called "maintenance contract" as they are obviously not maintaining your boiler correctly. It will cost more to run while lime scale is present in the system, as efficiency is reduced.
