What is the cheapest available printer to run?

I have always had cheap Canon printers to run and previously was able full set of inks for £2-£5, depending on the model. The model numbers were Canon i250, IP1000 and a few others.
The current cheapest one that I know of which is also available is the Canon MG5750, this is £60 on Amazon and has been as low as £40 as reported on HotUKDeals.

A 5 pack of compatible ink is £8
Can anyone recommend a cheap printer to run or beat the price for a pack of ink above, that is available to buy new from online retailers?

If you're truly interested in the cost to run, generally lasers work out cheaper than inkjets per printed page (and are more reliable). They do cost more to buy in the first place though.
There are plenty of comparison articles out there, but here's one as an example:

Printer to print what? Photos? Documents? Black&white? Colour?
Cheap printer to run is never going to be an inkjet.0 -

Cheap printer to run is never going to be an inkjet.
Just colour order confirmation pages on A4 paper, perhaps 10-15 pages a day.
I beg to differ on your inkjet statement. We had a full set of cartridges for an i250 printer that worked out about £1 per set, which lasted ages. You could never beat that with a laser or other type of printer.0 -
If you ask my son the answer would be "Someone elses" he has his own but uses mine so he doesnt run out of ink!0

Has anyone had any success with compatibles (not refills kits etc) for the following current Canon range? Can anyone beat £8 for a set of inks on their current range?

Cheapest to run generally wont be the cheapest to buy.
Laser printer or one of the new printers with built in ink tanks.
Bottles of inks which are equivalent to 20 cartridges for similar money.
Just waiting for some good offers on a particular Epson inktank printer.
Bit too pricey at the moment.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Did you mean to post a different link? For example, to where you pay £8 for a set of inks?0 -
Just Ebay for the cheap inks. Argos don't do the MG5750 anymore, but Amazon and Currys still do.
That Argos link just shows pretty much the UK range available, just wondering whether anyone has got cheap compatibles working with these and how much they come out at.0 -
Lasers are cheapest to run.
We print a fair bit more than you and gave up with ink for price reasons, and we gave up with refills / "compatibles" for quality and reliability reasons.
Maybe you can get away with that stuff if you're only doing a dozen pages a day though.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Laser's far too pricey for colour though, from when I used to use a Laser at work 5 or so years ago0
