SD Card loses stored music

Recently my SD Card lost all my stored music for no apparant reason. Is this a common fault or is due to human error (me!!) or could he SD card be faulty. by I had to start all over again downloading the music for various ources which was a real bind and very time consuming, and at the moment all seems OK. What is likely to cause the SD card to go blank. Can I recover the music that was stored. In future how can I back it up. To save using up memory on my elements on my PC is worth considering trying to put it on a memory stick. Can this be achieved and how would you set about it.

Human error. Files don't disappear for no apparent reason (unless you've run a Win 10 update recently ;) )

If you know the name of a file then run a search for it or look in the Recycle bin. Other than that it could be that you've accidentally re-formatted the SD card, in which case the files have gone for good. This is assuming you haven't got a faulty card which could also be a reason you've lost the files.

First off - NO storage is 100% reliable.
Secondly, SD cards can and do fail, especially cheap / fake ones.
So, don't keep only 1 copy of anything important - in your case on the SD card.
I'd suggest making sure you always have a copy on your PC, and another on the SD.
Anything REALLY important (eg irreplaceable photos) should be kept in multiple places, with at least one copy completely out of your home - cloud storage makes this easy.
