New radiators

I'm looking to get my radiators replaced soon, are Kudox which Screwfix sell good or are there better for a similar price. Is there anything I should be aware of when buying new radiators as I will be having a new combi fitted, Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i.

The only ones I have experience with are Stelrad or Myson.

We had a WB Grrenstar 30i fitted a year ago, it replaced our aging open tank system, so we now have mains pressure again (we had same boiler in our old flat too), we love it.

I fitted several Kudox radiators in my old flat when we had the boiler done, and they were fine no issues with them and they did give off a lot of heat.

I think our lounge rad was a Stelrad though, but it was a modern design type one, one the OH insisted on because it was 'prettier' :(
  • Making sure they are sized correctly for your room (in terms of heat output) is one consideration.
  • The last couple of houses I've done, both sets of plumbers used CenterRads from what used to be Plumb Center (now Wolseley).

No connection to that business but they seem decent quality and do the job. I'd say make sure you spend good money on the TRVs, cheap ones can be noisy.

  • Kudox are fine, fitted quite a few. Worked for B&Q for years and it didn't matter whose radiators we stocked, if customers used inhibitor they were fine, if the didn't they rust through.

You can get single, double, and even triple rads. If a room is cold think about putting an upgraded rad on, so a cold room with a 1500mm single easily upgraded to a double or double plus without the need to change the pipework.

If the new rads are slightly smaller you can get valve extensions. Sometimes we just fit valves with a drain c*** (male rooster word gets edited out) to fill the gap.

    And did I mention inhibitor?

Screwfix are running a promotion at the moment where you get free radiator valves .
