Don't Leave Work Personal Expenses to Build Up

What is slightly irritating at my place is that they don't like making payments of less than £10, but they also like me to claim regularly. Usually it's not a problem but I've got less than £5 to claim, and haven't managed to get it up to £10 for a couple of months!Signature removed for peace of mind0

I always do my expenses at least every two weeks but its easy at my workplace; we just need to scan in the receipts, upload them, choose a category and type in the amount for each one then submit. I'm not sure how this compares to other workplaces.
I would never leave it 5 months; a couple weeks ago i claimed just under £700 for one week and it's been double that for some weeks in the past so i wouldn't want to leave it too long anyway.0 -

I submitted two months claims yesterday, in time for payroll cutoff. We have a 3 month limit, but it isn't quite claim it or lose it. Anything beyond that can be claimed in exceptional circumstances with senior manager approval.
I've often seen people build them up deliberately, particularly in the run up to holidays.
Companies often get twitchy at the end of their financial year - wanting to get the accounts closed off.
that makes no sense at all! Why do people think it is a positive thing to give their employer an interest free loan for a few months, just so they can get a lump sum at the end? It is much more logical to make the claim each month and put that money into a savings account that they control.0 -

I agree with you, but lots of people are either not very logical, or not very good with their finances, or both..All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
because she said it was a faff to claim.
It's a work activity just do it.
Not everything we do at work is exciting.
I find a small faff every few days far better than a big one.
BY doing them regularly you catch any queried stuff while it is still fresh in the minds of those that have to sign it off.0 -
It's also one of those things that's highly visible.
If you are meticulous and organised with stuff like this, I really think it makes a difference as to how your manager sees you. If you are disorganised, it shows you don't really think money or finances is important, or you are just a disorganised person, neither of which paints a positive picture for when you are going for a promotion.0 -
