Credit card applying for a mortgage

Hi, me and my partner are currently in the process of buying a house and applying for a mortgage with Santander. We have already got the morgtage in principal - due to a slight delay with pay slips etc, it’s been a couple of weeks since we got the mortgage in principal offer. Since then, I have had to unfortunately spend £300 on my credit card (don’t have any other debt) I’m just a bit worried that the spending over the past few weeks will affect the mortgage going through. Any advice would be great - do I have anything to worry about?

as long as you pay it in full every month, shouldn't affect it, in any case you have no other debt so unlikely anyways to have any effect being so small

I really wouldn’t worry about £300 it’s nothing in the grand scheme of things it will have a tiny affect on affordablity!
  • As said above, it'll impact your affordability a teeny tiny bit if it's not paid off in full. As long as its being paid, I wouldn't worry.

I wasn't in the greatest financial position when taking out my mortgage. Don't get me wrong, my credit file was squeaky clean, no late payments or CCJs, but credit card balances, store cards and a loan or two. Going for a 95% mortgage, also with santander. I don't think you have anything to worry about. :money:
