Young driver - Have I been caught speeding?

Hi, I'm a young driver and have a bad feeling I might have been flashed yesterday.
I was on a small estate about 20 minutes from my house and I didn't realise that it was A 20mph zone so I was still doing 30. There had been a crash up the road I was on and there were a few police vans there checking it out and as I drove past them the back of the van flashed and I'm not sure if it's because I was doing 30mph...

Just looking for some advice really as I didn't think the normal police vans had speed cameras on them that flashed.

Im also wondering if the flash was them taking a photo of the crash for insurance or whatever but I'm worried that I'm going to get a ticket through the door and my insurance goes right back to the ££££'s

Thanks for any advice

Nobody can tell you for sure, but given the circumstances described then it's unlikely. It could have been a photo being taken, it could have been one of the cars flashing headlights to warn you to slow down.

All you can do is wait for a S172 notice through the post ... whose name and address is on the V5C for your car?

The registered keeper of the vehicle will know in a few days, certainly less that two weeks time if you were flashed.

Before then we are merely guessing.

First of all, all you can do is wait to see what comes through the letterbox in the next couple of weeks.

IF you did get caught going over the speed limit and you don't live in Scotland then you would highly likely to be offered the option of going on a course and if you did this you would not get any points. I don't think any insurance company asks about speed awareness courses now (Admiral group did) and if they don't ask you don't need to tell them.
