O/S Daily Monday 11th February 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Still pitch black, it eventually stopped raining at about 2pm yesterday afternoon, so still damp underfoot, temperature has dropped also.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, swede, peas, yorkshires and gravy, meat was delicious but so it should be - it was expensive. Tonight we'll be having smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with creme fraiche sauce. I'll serve DH a breaded chicken portion with his - otherwise he moans about no "piece" of meat, really can't be doing with his moaning. Sometimes it's better to pick your battles! Can't be doing with his moaning after I've been at work all day especially not on a Monday - which is our heaviest/busiest day.
Visited both sets of parents yesterday morning and my bro and SIL were at my parents so good to catch up with them.
We were very chilled once we got home, prepped the veg for lunch as meat was already cooking slowly on a low heat, so organised pack ups too, then had lunch and watched rugby, and had a lazy afternoon.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and it's a wet one here, doesn't seem too cold though.
Hope everyone has had a as good a weekend as possible.
We went to B&Q yesterday, and bought 2 sample paint colours, and a new hanging rail for the landing cupboard. It's official - the landing cupboard is going to be refurbished.
Lainey, I've just remembered, I got the show wrong didn't I, sorry, as long as you had a good time anyway
Didn't do much when we got home, I'd left steak and kidney in the slow cooker, so we had thet in a pie for tea with veg, very tasty.
I'm meeting some friends at D*bbies this morning, after that the world is our lobster - probably when I get home I'll find that Dh has emptied the cupboard. There's board games on the shelf in there, we'll probably be wondering whether to keep them.
That's it really - thinking of the poorly people, and those finding life difficult.
Take care folks0 -
Morning all
Seems a lot cooler here after a mild weekend, we had a nice day yesterday we went for a lovely walk in the woods then home for an hours rest and then a lovely dinner it was very relaxing.
Back to work today though, why do the weekends go by in a flash ?? doesnt feel like ive had two days off !!
Need to go and rummage in the fridge / freezer after this to find something for dinner, there is plenty in there.
Need to do a wash tonight and will sweep through downstairs.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all.
Another soggy and chilly day here. Today I'm heading back to Glasgow for a quick overnight visit. I want to go to see Dippy who is 'visiting' Kelvingrove just now.
Last night my lovely friends from Darlington booked to stay in a holiday cottage close by for a week of the Easter holidays. Annoyingly the local school for their sons goes back on the Tuesday after Easter Monday. Think it's because Easter is so late this year and it bumps into exam time.
I hope that people are doing well. Happy Monday to everyone.0 -
Morning folks. It feels quite a chilly start this morning. Much cooler than we have been having recently.
Not much in the way of cooking to be done today as quite a lot of leftovers from yesterday to be eaten up. The gammon will keep me going until midweek I should think!
I made a start on sorting the freezers out yesterday, swapping things around. But I decided it was too cold for that job so may carry on today and as my last inventory went to pot a new one is called for.
The DGDs bedding is still piled high in the laundry basket so I really should do that today I suppose too.
So no plans other than boring jobs if I CBA doing them. But first another coffee methinks.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking of TAFF, HOLLY, POPPY and STEVE. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning
Defo warmer this morning bit by bit we are heading towards spring :j
Sloth day yesterday although I did finally get that bag for charity sorted. Its mostly shoes and then mostly wedding/posh night shoes which are all high and very pointy ...the chances of me ever squeezing my mangled feet into those are again are zero... Cinderella I am not more ugly sister so time for someone else to get them for 50p
Still more to do in those wardrobes of mine I think ...plenty of stuff I dont wear lurking in the depths but I figure if I actually get it down to what I do wear it will be a very small amount but lots of pjs
Sausage mash and beans last night ...just what I wanted as usual I have left overs so will have that again or maybe just sausage sandwiches
Dentist this morning to sort out the little crack in my crown (the one in my mouth not the one on my head) Also getting a spit and polish which I hate but its worth the pain for nice clean teeth. No doubt she will finger wag at me for not using those horrid little brushes twice a day. I always do for a while after a dentist visit but life gets in the way
Work day for the rest of Monday with loads to do. Will chuck a weekend wash in too soon ...all pjs and dressing gowns ....I am so rock and roll
Right of to diligently scrub my teeth with bleach
Have a good day all0 -
Morning -yesterday's rain turned into a lovely sunny afternoon and I'm hoping for some sunshine today.
I have a big bag of bread scraps for tge ducks so I'm going feeding later. I know it is not optimal nutrition but HM chief swan person says it is fine, a lot better than being hungry.
Other than that a routine day of washing, bed changing and so forth, then panda making when I've done my jobs.
Good to know that Snoozer's Steve is getting proper treatment, love to all of us who are unwell, sad or worried.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
I’m back home after a few days with my brother. My sister in law and niece went off yesterday to a spa for the night but I really wanted to get home to my own bed. I found I didn’t sleep very well over there so I’m really tired.
Today’s plan is to go to the supermarket. I only need some fresh veg and milk, and then come back and do the washing from when I was away. Other than that it will be a reading and dozing on the sofa day so that I can catch up on sleep. The dust that seems to have accumulated while I’ve been away can stay where it is for another day.
Taff I’m really sorry to hear about the seroma, you could really do without that. Hopefully you will be more comfortable when it is drained.
Snoozer I was sorry to read that Steve has been having more problems, I hope that he is a bit better now.
Take care everyone x0 -
Morning Everyone
Cold and frosty here this morning but lovely and bright. Hopefully we won't have the sharp showers we had yesterday, I had put the washing out but had to bring it in again.
I got all the windows cleaned yesterday and the house got a good airing, I can see out of the kitchen window again! Also cleared all the jam jars to the cellar, folk have been really good at collecting them for me but they take up so much room.
Had a much needed walk down to Aldi and the bottle bank, felt good to stretch my legs, I spend too long in the car.
I have a couple of days off for half term so will be visiting DD in a bit to see if she wants to go out anywhere for a wander.
Hugs to the poorlies and anyone else in need. Where are you tru?
Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
I feel like I've not been on here in ages and as such, I've dropped the MSE ball.
I was in London with work last week, Wednesday till Friday. Most of my spends will go on expenses (food and travel) but others wont. It was a crazy busy few days which meant the healthy eating goes out the window too, coupled with no gym either, so I feel I've only managed to breathe yesterday really.
So, right back to it now, with no planned trips to London soon (thankfully). I am driving back up to Glasgow this weekend mind you, I've got my mates 30th, a dentist and opticians appointment, dinner with my family to celebrate my grans birthday and other things too. It shouldn't be a spendy weekend really.
Right I need to get cracking with work.

Dippy - http://www.nhm.ac.uk/press-office/press-releases/dippy-is-unveiled-at-kelvingrove-museum--glasgow.html
He was at the Natural History Museum for years and years but now on tour.
BTW - I'm not going to Glasgow specifically to see Dippy. My DM's new mattress is arriving early tomorrow morning which I need to oversee. DM is not good in the mornings, she only really rouses at 10'ish. Tonight we'll swap beds so she can stay asleep whilst I get up to strip the bed ready for the new mattress.
The sun has come out and is thawing the blanket of frost although there was a very pink / red sky earlier. I'm not putting away my rain jacket just yet.0
