How are they ripping off prepay customers? the standing charges and prices per unit are clearly displayed when you sign up to the tariff and that's what you get charged. A rip off would be when you get charged something you didn't agree too.

Millions of people pay by direct debit for their energy without any issues and considering their is a direct debit guarantee you are pretty well protected. The main issue comes from people not understanding how the billing works and not providing meter readings.
