yesterday i had my sky installed the installer said he couldnt get a signal at the back of my flat for the new dish but i feel like he just didnt want to do the work so had to have a sky plus hd installed instead of the sky q that i signed up for and on top of that the broadband speed is about 2 mbps not even close to the 7 mbps i was told i would get for streaming videos and movies etc on my tv so unable to watch stuff with out it constantly stopping not sure what to do about it since i think im going to be stuck with a 18 month contract for some thing that i never wanted because its not fit for what i was told when signing up to them 😞

Check your T&Cs for cooling off/cancellation period. Don't you get 14 days, or Sky often give 31 days)? There should also be a minimum broadband speed stated in the t&cs.
If you can cancel but don't want to - bb speed unlikely to be different unless you can get fibre - then haggle hard!0 -
the speed on there page for my broadband is 25 mb and on terms its 10 mbps so .... yeah thats way slower . cooling off i think if i understand it right is 15 days so thanks have to give them a call if i can get to a person0

A sky dish does need to be pointing roughly south so if you don't have a south facing aspect, which can be problematic in flats, they won't be able to fit a dish. Your internet speed may need some time to bed in, have you tried it today ? What was the minimum guaranteed connection speed you were given on your agreement ?0

are back wall is pointing south he basically walked out there holding a dish leaning it on his chest and pointing it in direction away from the property i read on there web site the sky q can be done using the network if no dish can be installed so duno
terms and conditions say should get 11 mbps average its currently going between 2 and 3 mbps0 -

However it's the same dish and direction for HD or Q, only the LNB is different, so it makes no sense.6retroforlife9 wrote: »are back wall is pointing south he basically walked out there holding a dish leaning it on his chest and pointing it in direction away from the property i read on there web site the sky q can be done using the network if no dish can be installed so duno

You said you should be getting 7Mbps in your first post but regardless, it takes a few days for the internet to settle down and find your best speed.0 -
when i was talking to the sales man i was told it should be fine for steaming and tv and movies standard hd 720p but at the moment it can only handle 480p and stops ever 30 ish mins and looks really bad on a hd tv they said would work on 5 mbps or faster and should be about 7 mbps at my property .
found the speed broadband speed explained shows a 7 day chart and the speeds have been 3.1 mbps consistently since it was installed says this under it "When you bought Sky Broadband Unlimited your estimated download speed was 4.8 - 10.3 Mbps."0 -

A 7 day chart is useless at the moment as you've only had it for 2 days. That said if you only achieve the minimum guaranteed then I'd say you're still going to struggle to stream in comfort. You'd be better off with fibre, call them within your cooling off period (if you are still in it) and see what they can do regarding an upgrade if you're worried.0
