Since some of you asked, reason to not continue with the car
    A. My current car is a manual and my wife cannot drive a manual, so looking for an automatic now which will be a family car and both of us can drive.
Unless she has a physical disability she is better off learning to drive a manual.
    B. 75k done already, changes to break pads, tyres, cambelt wilk be due soon shooting the overhead. Why pay this on a car which I can return and get another.
Because it is infinitely cheaper than paying out £10,000+ on another car you can't afford. No doubt you've already gone through one set of tyres and brake pads so why is changing those such a big deal?
    C. Not for neighbour but yes, having a newer car would be nice if it can fit the above criteria and also fits in my current budget.

You can't afford one. If you could you'd not be getting one on PCP.

  • Its with Black Horse finance and if what you said is true for them too, I am totally saved. Will check with them tomorrow and find out. Thanks a lot for this advice - won't harm in trying.

Just an update on this - I phoned yesterday evening, and spoke to someone on the collections team (who arrange a VT), after asking the first person who wasn't sure. I asked again, if I hand the car back once 50% is paid but I am already over the mileage limit, will I be charged. They said no, as when I signed up that wasn't part of the policy.

They are changing this, so any future ones will still face a mileage fee, and this is to try and stop people from signing up with low mileage estimates then exceeding it massively.

Not unusually for you, that's rather a simplistic response. There are many reasons for getting a car on any kind of finance even if you have the money in the bank to pay the asking price.
