Potholes

I've made a claim for POTHOLE DAMAGE to my car but the Council say they were aware of the POTHOLE and measures have been taken to repair the area in the near future, so refuse my claim. I understand that if this is the case, the Council should mark the offending POTHOLE with a white lined box to indicate knowledge of the situation. Does anyone know if this is the case and is it a legal requirement to mark identified potholes?

No, it isn't a LEGAL requirement.

The white lines are just so that the pothole fillers know which holes to fill.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
