Drum roll please, the New Horizons Internet Cafe is now open for business :hello:

With all the talk of Live8 in the news this week, how about chatting about who you would like to see at Live8 and was anyone actually at LiveAid?

For some reason I was in an electrical store when LiveAid started and remember being very emotional watching it kick off. At night I invited a load of friends down for drinks and charged them for the privilege and we then donated the money.

Who can forget the awful images played to the haunting music, it still makes me cry to watch it.

Anyone planning on marching to Edinburgh?

No need to stick to this as a topic, just a suggestion. Pull up a chair and join in :D

edited to add I just noticed this is my 3,000 post ;)

Because the SS users wanted to discuss when the next Elton John concert would be and Live8 seems a good place to start as Elton will be appearing.

Unfortunately my wife and I were abroad in 1985 when the original live aid took place, so we missed the entire event. As luck would have it my brother in law and I will be in Edinburgh in July. It should make for an interesting time. Can anyone tell me why it is so difficult to post this afternoon? It seems to be taking forever to read a page.

Oh Hermit, could be a busy time for Edinburgh at the beginning of July. I will be on holiday but fortunately will still be here to see the Hyde Park concert.

Due to heavy traffic on MSE after the email goes out it is slow over a Wednesday night and Thursday morning, it does seem particularly slow today though. ;)

    And me.

I remember stopping whatever it was I was doing when the concert started and being totally mesmerised.

Good luck all in the text lottery :D

I was there - well, glued to the goggle box anyway! It was a scorching hot day so at one point, I had my dining windows open, my dining chair outside peering through to watch it :o

I think (for me) the one thing which stood out about the original was Queen's performance - superb! I can't really think of anyone who could even match that in a modern version :(

We watched it all day too. It was great, and only bettered by the Freddie Mercury tribute. IMHO.
