Oled Panasonic faulty - in 2 months - john lewis

Hi All
I bought panasonic oled tv for £1349 from john lewis last November i.e. Nov 2018

It got faulty i.e not turning ON. In 23 january 2019

I called john lewis. I wanted to a replacement but they offered a repair.
JL contractors came and picjed up the faulty tv on 25th jan since then tv is with them. They said screen is faulty nad new screen will arrive on 12 feb 2019 and then they ll fix and return.

Now in all this, can i ask for replacement of television with a new one. Repaired television just after 2 months is not any body ll like soecially when u spent such an amount.

Can i excercise some right to ask for a new replacement tv - same model?
From JL or Panasonic?
Thanks

The retailer can elect to repair, refund or replace, but the choice is theirs. You have no right to force their decision. You have no claim under consumer legislation against the manufacture.

Yes of course you can. Ask away.

However, keep in mind that the Consumer Rights Act allows the seller to choose the remedy. Only after one failed repair can you insist on a refund.

You have no consumer rights against Panasonic.
Realistically, the only rights you have against Panasonic are those spelt out in your Panasonic warranty.
  • Thanks for quick replies

Screen faulty after 2 months, complete replacement of screen does look like to me that fault was present before and after sometime it showed up by not turning ON.

Refund i wouldnt prefer as the price of same television has gone up again.

3 weeks without television is a pain. Nevertheless, I hope its fixed soon.
  • They replaced a screen on our telly twice then gave up and repaid us. We then bought another from Richer sounds as JL did not have what we wanted. Be patient and they will probably sort it out.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
