According to my info, it is possible to download music from this site using their app. However, I have tried to do this with my laptop and get a message that I have to own the music first. Any ideas, please?

The major suppliers all have ways of renting music per play, and in each case you can only play them through their players and you cannot download them (although Google Play for example allows you to store them, encrypted, on the phone for playing offline). Each of them also has a way you can buy music, and then you can download the specific tracks you have bought and use them outside of the app.

You can also upload your own CDs into systems like Google Play and you can download them to other devices, this is a bit tedious but it does mean you can share the files with all your devices, no longer need heaps of CDs around and you can download the files you have uploaded in the future.

Amazon prime streams music but amazon also sells mp3s you can download and play anywhere. Both your purchased tracks & Amazon Prime &/or Music Unlimited streaming tracks get stored in the same streaming library.
