i bought an epson printer because i thought that brand was good for cheaper compatible cartridges.
but when i try to load them the message just says the cartrige is not compatible. i have tried 2 brands and made sure it is the latest version (3).
(oh and the chips are clean...)
anyone know if this is a general problem with the epson x4050 or am i doing something wrong?
Thanks

Hi wolfehouse, I have the dx6050, and have encountered this problem. As I understand it, Epson upgraded the chips in about March this year, and machines made after this were no longer able to read compatible carts. Manufacturers have now designed new chips, but you have to check that they can be used with printers made after March 2007.
I bought some newly chipped compatibles recently from eBay, and they work fine, so maybe yours haven't got the latest chips, and someone is trying to offload some old stock onto you?0
