Turned down 3 network sim deal

Options
I applied yesterday online for a 3 network HomeFi deal for £22 a month over 24 months. It was refused, so I spoke on their live chat and was given an email address to contact. Is there any reason this would of been turned down?

I haven’t been declined for anything for many years, let alone a small monthly sim contract

Is this normal?

Have you a proven record of handling credit in the past?

Have you checked your credit reports for anything untoward?

That said, it could be down to something really silly. We were refused a mobile phone contract some years ago because their rules said that we were officially 'of no fixed abode'. We lived in Armed Forces married quarters.

Thanks Silvertabby, yes a proven record of handling credit (I do have debt but its managed) and both my credit reports (ME Money Club and CreditExpert) are both fine, nothing untoward and I'm 995 out of 999 on both (I know it doesnt count for anything in real life)

3 have since meailed back saying they've 'looked at it' and now want me as a customer so to re-apply? So i did, and got it approved

    Whats ME Money Club ?

Do you mean MSE credit club ?

If you do they just use the information from Experian (which is just credit expert), should really check the other 2 agencies, clearscore and Noddle.

Phone contracts are typically the easiest of all credit to get. So a refusal would indicate one of two things. Either your credit history is very poor. Or they have made a mistake.

MSE Credit Club show you informations from your Experian credit report so it's the same thing. If you use Credit Expert for 15 quids a month, maybe you should cancel it... MSE Credit Club gives you the same informations for free.

You need to register on Noddle (shows you info from TransUnion) and ClearScore (shows info from Equifax), both for free. And then check all three on a regular basis.

    Thanks SlovakianGuy

I cancelled my CreditExpert last year as wasnt a fan of the monthly fee, and have recently signed up for ClearScore.

Will take a look at Noddle tomorrow too

Sounds like a case of automated system going "computer says no" and a human looking at it and over-ruling it. It doesn't mean anything negative against you merely that the algorithm they use isn't entirely foolproof.
