  • Im a googleer. All my contacts are stored in my Google cloud, along with my photos, videos, emails, files, bookmarks and documents, where I can access/add/delete/edit them from any device I've ever used in the last 10 years. Suggest you start using the cloud if you don't want to lose precious information

  • In fact did ms still produce outlook express in 2010? I thought it was scrapped in 1998

  • Oh yeah... And my music's up there too.... And if you delete a load of contacts and want then back a few weeks later you can restore them. Storing anything on pc in this day and age is positively prehistoric

This link will show you in simple steps how to go about the backup process

Make sure you save the file on a different drive than the OS is on otherwise you will wipe it when you do the OS reinstall.

This link will show you how to import them back into Outlook when you have finished your OS reinstall

Typical - four posts and none have answered the question.

see https://www.lifewire.com/copy-outlook-address-book-1165717 for step by step instructions.

Personally I would take the opportunity to move to Thunderbird and import your contacts, settings etc. into a far better and supported email client.

How long before we find it is not Outlook Express at all but Outlook 2010. Not that this affects the sound advice about how to back up contacts.

    One of my pet bugbears
First there was Outlook, then the 'trimmed down' Outlook Express
Then just to keep things simple, they renamed Hotmail ..... Outlook
