Bigger bath.

My bath space is 1700/700, 545 high, boxed in on 3 sides, I’m looking to swap it for a wider bath, as this one just seems really narrow and shallow, wondering what my options are? (Just moved house)
If I increased the width to say 750 or 800, that would have one side sticking out from the wall by 90mm so maybe not the best option...or is there baths that have better internal measurement but still 1700/700?
Visited my local diy stores to check what my options are but the display models were all tiny, the bigger baths were in boxes high up, so I couldn’t try any out.

Can you extend the wall and make it 90mm larger?0

Not really as the sink would need moving too, as it’s right next to the bath and the electrical socket on the wall would also need moving.0 -
May I just say, and please, please, please don’t take this lightly.
If you have the space for a wider bath, USE IT...mine is 800mm and an absolute game changer!
Get an 800 and make the rest work0 -

I hear you, yeah if I want it to work I’ve going to have to put the effort in..
If nothing else works I will get a quote for the wall extension as the bath is next to useless the way it is, was just hoping there was some other option I hadn’t thought off, as previous baths I’ve used haven’t been as bad as this.0 -
Probably fairly easy to move a basin, isn't it?
Though, my bathroom is so small that the side of the basin overhangs the bath. Could you do the same?0 -
It will of course hold substantially more water so it is worth checking that you hot water cylinder (if you have one) has sufficient capacity.
If, like me, you have a large bath fed from a combination boiler it will take quite some time to fill.0 -
We recently fitted a 1700x800mm bath, a rather deep freestanding one. It only takes around 7 minutes to fill from the combi boiler, which was a pleasant surprise!
Having upgraded from a much narrower and shallower bath at our old house, I can’t recommend getting a bigger one highly enough.0 -

No not really...welll not without a total remodel of the bathroom, new flooring would also be needed.

Think this is the best suggestion, we’ll he sink wouldn’t need to overhang but I think see if having the bath stick out those 9cm will work, I’ll ask a plumber.Undervalued wrote: »It will of course hold substantially more water so it is worth checking that you hot water cylinder (if you have one) has sufficient capacity.

It’s a combi, I have good water pressure, so don’t think filling will be an issue.scottishblondie wrote: »We recently fitted a 1700x800mm bath, a rather deep freestanding one. It only takes around 7 minutes to fill from the combi boiler, which was a pleasant surprise!

Yep I’m going for it, mainly use the shower but like the odd bath, this bath feeling like I’m sitting in a sink.0
