Letters sent to wrong address

Hi.

A debt recovery agency who have my current address and have been corresponding with me at this address, for some reason they have sent 3 letters now to my parents address. I have never lived at that address and it is not on my credit file so unclear to how they got it and why they would send it there. My parents opened the letters. I have emailed the agency but yet another one went out. How do i complain about this as my letters were opened without my consent because they went elsewhere. I know it my parents but they don't need to know my business, i am almost 30.

Well tell your parents not to open your mail. They should really know that.

When you say 'and have been corresponding with me at this address' do you mean they had sent you letters of which you didnt reply to?

You can complain to the company via their complaint handling process. They should give a firm undertaking to use the correct address - they'll perhaps offer a gesture of goodwill, although if you owe them money this may not happen.

You could also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office as this sort of thing is a breach of the company's obligations under the Data Protection Act.
