Credit Card Defaults

I went onto a repayment plan with credit card companies over 6 years ago. This resulted in me getting defaulted, over the last 18 months I have had a payrise and went back to making repayments with interest. Last month I was reduced to a 4 day working week. I am not going to be able to make the payments for long. If I tell the credit card companies, Can they default me again?
