Cost of eutanasia/private cremation - London

My 12.5 yo German Shepherd, Zara gave me a real scare not long ago when I thought it was time to let her go.
Thankfully she picked up and despite being senile in her ways - she is not uncomfortable, she enjoys a little walk every day and barking at foxes in the garden.
But that made me think - I spoke to my vet at the time and was quoted around £750 to have her go my way when the time comes.
I will want a home visit from the vet and individual cremation for Zara - so i can keep her on the shelf next to Tiger and Teddy, the 2 cats that passed away.
I want to be prepared - financially. As I know emotionally I will a total mess. I have Zara since she was 4 months old baby.
The question is - £750 seems like an absolute awful lot.
I was also looking at possibly vet coming for a home visit but not taking Zara away but rather me arranging a private cremation myself - I looked at few companies online that do this and it is much cheaper.
As much as I love my dog - I also need to be realistic about what I may be able to afford.
Has anyone had that dilemma recently?
How did you handle it?

Home visits are more expensive.
Cremation for a dog varies depending on their size and does cost more than a cat. As you have found out.
Best off phoning round all the pet crematoriums and get a feel for (1) price and (2) whether you would want want them to do it.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
I realise all that.
I am really hoping for some recommendations (that is why I put London in the post) from people who may have gone through this rather than googling options.Has anyone had that dilemma recently?
