Universal credit payment

Hi everyone!
I checked my bank today to see a £54 payment with this reference dwp gb fp lp fundi uc , I logged on to universal credit and there was a note in my journal saying that I was underpaid in may-June last year and they were sending the £54 payment to my account. My question is is it normal for this to happen even though mistake is from 7 months ago? Why would they only just be repaying me now? And I have learned that you can never be too careful with benefits so I’m worried to spend the money in case I get asked for it back! Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice appreciated! Thank you.

It’s quite possible. Have you any idea why there might have been an error in May/June?

What is your work situation? Self employed? Employed by an employer?

What other income do you have?

It’s probably something innocuous that the system has picked up on.
  • Hi! It says because they took too much off universal credit for other benefits. My partner is working and I claim caters allowance for looking after my Nan
  • Hi! My husband works and I claim carers allowance for my Nan, there is no other income

Did your Carer’s allowance start in May/June. If so they may have miscalculated the deduction. Do you still have access to the UC calculations for April/May, May/June and June/July to see howth3 calculations vary?

It happens. Wrong start date used at beginning of claim for other benefit, someone picks up on it down the line and changes the system details, the system then generates under/over payment.
