Pls I need help about a car ins claim!

Pls I need advise, I passed my test 6 months ago and last week my car was parked outside my home and a 76 yr old woman completely totalled it. Some neighbors in the street saw it an consoled me they will sort it and to go through their insurance and they will get me more then I paid. Gullible me went ahead, the company doesn’t call me but this “neighbor” is the one sorting it. He said today they are offering £1500! I paid £3000 for it and even on eBay and autotrader the model is going above £2400 at least! I have not signed anything with them and I was wondering can I go back to my own insurer as I don’t trust this guy at all. I know he is lowballing me to make a cut himself, even though he was making it out it’s no problem for him we’re neighbors and family friends.
So can I change back? Pls can someone advise as I have never done this before?

What on earth?
I think that is code for
"Why on Earth would somebody else's insurance cover this?"
Either you claim off your insurance, and if they can't get it back off the other driver you lose your no-claims and the excess, or you claim directly off hers, and if she has admitted it to them they pay for your car.
Nothing to do with your "friend", unless he is an Ambulance chaser, and you have signed away your rights to claim to him.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science

No I don’t think you understand, you can claim with another ins party, all you do is tell your own I’m not claiming on the accident. But what I wanted to know is because I e not signed anything I will be able to go back to my own?0

Have you personally spoken to the other persons insurance company and told them you wish to claim against their customers policy?0
-
Sorry for not being accurate, but I have spoke to them but not signed anything, it’s only been 4 days so I want to go back through my own. Also the person that hit me is with Churchill and they accepted full fault and they said they will take care of it but I’m so confused! Shall I go through my own insurance or with Churchill (the people who hit me)?
See I don’t kno if there is an advantage to going with the right one??! I’m just praying I can find some knowledgeable person on these forums who can help?0 -
Ring your insurance company and explain the situation. They may well be very helpful.0

Ok well do thanks0

You havent done antthing wrong,.
Go drectltly through Churchill.
Who has paid you this money and through whose insurance.
Tell your neighbour you are dealing with it yourselfmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If Churchill have admitted liability, it may be easier to deal with them directly.
They will make an offer for your car. If you think it is too low, then say so. You do not have to accept their first offer. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Thanks so much
So the person that hit me is with Churchill
I am with goskippy
So your saying it’s probably best to get it done through Churchill instead?
Thanks so much for the help0
