Best modern central heating for a flat - gas or electric?

My ancient Baxi gas-boiler is dying and this summer I'll need to get new heating for my flat.

I know electricity is three times the price of gas but I'm wondering if there's anything that means that gas isn't the obvious winner.

I also wonder if there have been any tech advances in either gas or electric that make for more efficient/eco-friendly heating.

I own neither the roof nor the garden in the building so solar and heat-pump technology aren't an option.

Wondering what to do for the best, and hoping for advice. :)

No. If gas is available then choosing any other fuel for space heating is madness.

Gas is by far the cheapest, epecially as you've got a system already and just need a new boiler.

Dont be peruaded by glossy adverts from firms who supply posh expensive electric heaters filled with exotic unguents.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • Also when you sell the flat, gas central heating will be more valuable to prospective owners. So a better price for you.
