Concerns about discolouration on passport biodata page

I am flying to India on the 16th February and I have noticed that I have some slight discolouration on my UK passport which expires in July 2020 so its pretty old.
The discolouration is a slight brown/yellowish tint on the bottom of the biodata page less than half a centimetre from the bottom of the passport in landscape orientation so below those two lines of numbers/letters which are still easily readable. There is a slighter darker brown discolouration towards the top left hand corner as well which is again around half a centimetre from the corner but which goes over the 'U' (still easily readable) where it says 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. The rest of the biodata page is in good condition such as the photo, chip, passport details etc.

There is slightly worse brown discolouration on the back cover where the 'Emergencies' details are from the bottom right corner in portrait orientation which covers less than a quarter of that back cover. I am not sure how relevant this is as this is empty on my passport. I have tried to attach an Imgur link to show photos of the damage but as a new user on this forum I am unable to post on here with links included. If you want to see the photos, I can private message you them so you can get a better idea of it.

I may be being a bit paranoid but should I be worried about my passport being rejected at the various airports (Birmingham, Dubai, India) whilst I am travelling.

Rather than risk loosing a lot of money ( i presume this is not a cheap trip ) why not bite the bullet and get your passport renewed, yes it will cost you money but compared with the cost of the holiday?

    In 9 days? I don't think I'd risk that!

I wouldn't worry about it if everything is readable.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Yh I am probably just over stressing about it. It already has one visa stamp for India in it with my photo on it from 2011 and that page is in good condition.

The discolouration you speak of will be a chemical indicator which was added to the paper to show up attempts to tamper with the passport.

I would expect a high level of scrutiny at best. Refusal at worst.

Can you not go and have it replaced whilst you wait,i know this costs more but still less than a refused boarding/travel:eek:
  • I honestly wouldn't worry - as long as everything is readable I can't see it being a problem. I travelled for years (widely and to countries in the Middle East and Asia) with a passport that had slight water damage around the edges of every page from an unfortunate incident wading through a stream. Everything was still totally readable and visible, and I never had a problem.
