Claim overturned during work

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help as I can't find anything online. Recently claimed against a home emergency plan, the claim was accepted and an engineer visited, they identified the problem then called the provider telling them is was an garden tap. The company then changed the claim to rejected stating "it's not covered" and the engineer left.
Deep in the T&Cs it does say this which i didn't realise until checking but at no point did they ask where the tap was when i made the claim and having accepted and attended should they not have finished the repair? a
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

If it's excluded from the policy then I don't see why they'd be under any obligation to cover the cost merely because they've made a visit. You're in no worse a position than you were before.0

If the cover is for items 'in the home' and excludes the garden in the terms, they wouldnt ask where the tap was because they would assume the tap is in your house as your cover is for that.0

What exactly does the policy state? Does it tell you that such claims will be charged at x rate or does it just state its not covered?
If you're not happy with their response, you should have the option of complaining to the financial ombudsman - home cover is just another form of insurance so a financial product. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
!!!!!!. Entitled? No. You are lucky you haven’t been charged a call out fee!0
