Google Chromecast dongle 50Hz resetting after update

I've noticed that after a software update my Chromecast dongle reverts to the default 60Hz setting. I have to manually change it back to 50Hz via the Google Home app.
The ability to change to 50Hz was introduced for the European market to avoid picture judder which is noticable at 60Hz especially when the title credits scroll up at the end of shows.

OK....
Whilst I agree there can be a slight judder when the credits are rolling, I find the quality excellent in most other ways.
Presumably there must be a trade off in changing to 50 Hz in some other respect otherwise it would be the default or the only option?0 -

Nope -- it's due to the frequency of mains electricity in different regions.0
