320i iPhone Connection
Anyone out there have a 320i with the BMW Professional audio system?
I recently picked up a 2011 320i Exclusive. It has a USB port under the armrest but when connecting my iPhone to it I get an error message stating that the lead being used is not compatible. I am using an original Apple lead and the handset is a iPhone 7.
Do I need a specific BMW lead to play music?
I have successfully paired my phone with the Bluetooth for calls and works absolutely fine.

Doesn't usually work with lightning cables as predates them you need to convert it to the old 30pin cable format.0

Error Message where exactly, on the phone? iPhones on the latest iOS (12) are quite picky about USB cables and I saw this article recently about a class action lawsuit that was just started.

Might be worth getting a USB stick and using that instead, I have one of these and it works perfectly - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077VYCV37/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_V1axCbB65S8WN0

The error message appears on the audio unit.bengalknights wrote: »Doesn't usually work with lightning cables as predates them you need to convert it to the old 30pin cable format.
Thanks. I might give that a try. There is also an AUX IN jack connection that I might try.0 -
If you have a aux socket then buy a bluetooth adaptor that plugs into it. You can pick them up from £10 on amazon.
I got one of these a few weeks ago for my 2010 audi and it's been great. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-TaoTronics-Hands-Free-Microphone-Cancellation-Black-x/dp/B075SWJMJ70
