Do I need a new battery?

Overheating the charger? I suspect its just too high a load for a domestic charger. Similarly with an alternator, they're not designed to revive batteries but to keep a healthy battery charged.coffeehound wrote: »Interesting. Is that due to internal plates distorting and making contact?0 -
Hello everyone. My car has been sitting idle in a barn for nearly a year ; once its up and running will the battery hold its charge or do I need a new one? It was a cheap Halfords variety and I didn't know to disconnect it. Thanks for your help.
If the voltage dropped below around 11.5V its knackered. It may appear to hold a charge but leave it standing a few days or have a particularly cold night and you'll soon find out it needs replacing. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
