Third Credit Check in three Days?

Options
Hi all,

I was hoping one of you might be able to help as I'm super stressed.

I've been working to improve my credit rating over the past six months (with some success). I have no defaults/CCJs etc (mainly a lot of used credit and a lot of addresses/short term accounts)

But I'm moving flats, into a new place where I can't take my current broadband with me. So I (unwisely) chose to go with Talk Talk.

Through errors on their end, the first order was cancelled after I had passed a credit check (they ignored that I don't move in to my new flat until 18th and tried to take over the line early).

I then called up and re processed the order and was assured this wouldn't happen again. Passed the credit check, only to find out today they again did not process the order correctly!

Their complaints department have offered me £10 off my first bill (laughable for 3 hours on the phone and two credit checks!)

My question - is should I reprocess the order again (3 credit checks in 3/4 days with same provider) or ditch and run to another provider (which may look like I had failed on my report!)

Does it matter? (Ideally I'd go with an alternative company but worried that it will look like Talk Talk failed me)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm really stressed right now.

Mark

  • If you wish.

Ask them to remove the previous searches as well and take the £10 as it's more than generous

Oh I didn't know it was possible to ask them to remove the searches (I'm pretty sure they didn't) thank you very much!

If anyone can advise how to do that that would be excellent

  • Ask them to remove the previous searches - that's all you need to do

£10 is way too low I would go £30-£50!
  • £10... customer service rep is having a laugh. £25 minimum. I'd go for £50.

Put a formal complaint in for the searches to be removed if they don't agree to it when you ask nicely (I doubt customer services reps can agree TBH).

Then say you'll refer to FOS as it's in relation to your credit (and that you do NOT want to use the telephone ombudsman or whatever mickey mouse one they want to use - Virgin Media have a habit of trying to force people to use that rather than FOS, not sure if others are the same).

Thank you everyone for your help.

I've asked them to remove the searches but have very little confidence given their customer service so far.

The complaints department initially offered me £5 off my bill if I was willing to go through a third application and 'trust' them this time.

I've decided to cut and run and go with a different supplier (and hopefully get the searches removed)

Thank you again everyone I do appreciate the help
