New consumer unit - rough cost?

Any idea how much it would cost to get an electrician to take out our old electricity consumer unit and supply and install a new one please? Even a rough idea would help.

Our old one is shot, we had to call out the local power supply company yersterday as it was smoking and it seems the main neutral wire was loose and has been arcing and melting. They wouldn't replace as it wasn't their board or responsibility and we had to get a sparky ourselves to sort it. So one is coming today but I have no idea what kind of cost is involved. It's not really the kind of job we can get quotes for first as it's pretty urgent. We've used this electrician before and he was very reasonable cost wise but it was only ever for small jobs.

Also, if we were to get 4 double outdoor sockets installed....would we be better (i.e. cheaper) buying them ourselves first and then getting electrician to fit, or getting him to supply and fit?

i've been quoted 150 incl labour and parts by a part p NICEIC reg sparky. i'm in the liverpool area so prices are a bit cheaper up here than southeast/west.

i woudn't bother getting the double sockets yourself - he'll probably get them from screwfix that are just as cheap.
